Curt,

1/2 basecoat clear, and 1/2 blue pearl toner, then reduce it. Then you will need to air brush it on.
No paint code on it.

Scott,When you say basecoat clear,Is that thin like HOK's intercoat clear or is it regular clearcoat? Jim

I wouldn't suggest using it with regular clear. Find a store that sells with the House of Kolors intercoat clear or the PPG D895, then mix it with the pearl toner (PPG Global toner will work fine).

The clear is like spraying basecoat, and it does not require a catalyst. once you get the pearl on, then you can use your straight regular clear over your paintwork.

Curt, House of KOlor has a base coat color that looks very simular to the blue used in

signature series #4 it is called Majik Blue Pearl PBC-41.it might be easier for you to get a hold of and it cost under $50 a quart. i dont know the cost of The globial toners off hand. i used the Majik Blue pearl on a paint job i did not too long ago (ghost flames )and you will get the same look if you slightly over reduce the blue base coat. it might be easier and cheeper for a beguiner.

Hey Curt,One qt. should do,you have to reduce at least 2/1.Don't even try it with regular clear, not only is it more expensive but, you'll be sanding your *** off trying to get rid of the flame edge.I guess the intercoat is real thin like your basecoat but with no color pigment in it.I wish I knew that before!

As for getting the flames the same on both sides,go to the top of the page and in the "search",type in "pounce wheel"there are some good posts on that subject. You can try some other key words too,There has been alot of posts on the topic.Good luck!

Curt,
Paint formulas consist of various toners. Usually 3-7 toners (average) make up a paint color. The pearl blue I used is just a straight toner.
When you go down and order your paint, tell them you want a pint (or whatever amount you want) of blue pearl toner.
Once you get this, you can add your basecoat clear (maybe they can add it for you). The main reason I add this is to give the blue pearl more "body".

If I remember right, Dupont has powder and liquid pearls, you will want the liquid blue pearl.
