Smooth dash bord

Hi all

i have a 88 chevy Pickup

and i am going to smooth the dash. i have no qlue what i am doing, but what better way to learn right!!
any way i am wandering if any one knows how the dash bord comes out i see the screws accrosed the bottom and the ones in the in the defroster vent. but what about where the gauges are how dose that hump lift out?

also if any one has any tips on how to smooth a dash plz let me know.. i think i am going to sand the texture off and then shot it with a thick primer. on some spots i may have to use some fiberglass

Go spend the $12 on a service manual of some sort. I bought a Haynes manual and it walks you through removal of stuff like dashes. Good investment.

An '88 won't have a problem with airbags, but if you go messing around with some of the newer cars and trucks without learning how to disable your airbag, you'll get a rude awakening when you start removing the dash!
