Hi

Here is my rendering of flames. i lost any red to speak of, i even started with red to try to punch up the red look .
Not sure what is needed to achieve that look , i followed M .Lavalle's instruction video but mine never seem to have the right look
I am using xotic paint and it works well but am losing something in the steps .
Any advice would be appreciated

it does look nice, and i do see what you're talking about. i like the faces and you are doing well. you've got to play w/ color. are you using candies?

i start w/ orange then highlight in yellow, followed by candi apple red.

then don't cover the candi red w/ your next layer of orange and yellow flames.

Hi thanks for the tip ,as i need to change my thnking on this .
I follow the layering squence from the secrets of true fire video.
(i start off with red then c.a red to try to punch up the red look this is outside of the norm i know)
As for candies i am using
candie apple red, candy tangerine,,and peagan candy gold
and usually by now i dont even hit it with the 50/50 high lites because i have lost interest.lol.
I will try it the way you mentioned to see i can get this thing going a more
positive direction

thanks

I agree...possibly you aren't using or applying enough candy. Need to pull that 'richness' out of the solid colors.

Maybe you're not mixing the candy strong enough??

Well i never thought of that i will have too mix up a fresh batch of the
candy apple red . It seems the other candies are okay . You may have
solved an ongoing battle i have been having.
I do spray tons of it , im not shy with it at all . This may be my missing link
Thanks

You have some pretty good licks going on there. But your colors seem a little on the weak side as was mentioned. When you look at your flames they seem to be moving in all the same direction. Try a little more over lap,or cross overs Try adding some going off to the left, than some to the right. Do the cross overs at an angle. That way your eyes will be dancing over the whole piece not just focusing on just one direction. This will give you much more depth and movement. But you have the skulls pretty well nailed. Looks good. But you definately have eliminated the swiss cheese look. Ya just need a little tweekin. here and there.
