SPRAY GUN IWATA LPH 400 \\ SATA OR?

Let me Start with a thanks to this board & all it's members as it has more years expierance then I could ever get with the isocyanates in todays products (DON"T FIGURE kinda like MTBE in GAS here in CA) don't get me started back to the topic I am looking for top quality GUN for clear leaning toward the IWATA LPH400 but wanted some feed back from my mentors(THATS all You Guys) I will soon post some pictures of what you guys helped me so far It is a PWC ( personal water craft) sprayed it with silver metalic then some purplee candy with a little pink pearl set it off nice oh that was done with XOTICS basicaly HOK burple then cleared with nason select clear 467-00 just to lock it all in as my FLAMES are going to be Duponts tru Blazberry Chromalusion I think you guys would be impressed with your work as prior to this I Built & Refinished Guitars & cellulose laquer is much easier to work with then these bc\cc systems!!!!! So any suggestions & tips would be appreciated & as guns go I have a Walcom hvlp touch up gun that I like the way it lays it down but my other gun never have cared for old Sata copy not sure think it is a 95 Love my Sharpe 975 but way to much loss of materials & Overspray so HELP ME PLEASE

THANKS JOE
PS REX you crack me up going thru old post you seem to have picked up alot of expierance with the hvlp guns What you think as I tend to make sure my prep is sweet then some what of a hoser myself like to lean on it a bit some times to much & finishing the finish gets more time consuming but hell I am Retired & time is the only thing I can afford well maybe not the only thing & I AM NOT OLD, I RETIRED YOUNG LOL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

I posted a question in tools of the trade about Walcom hvlp guns. Do you like yours? How's the quality? I was considering one because they only have to have about 6.5 to 7.5 cfm. That's ideal for a small compressor like mine.

On another note, I have a SATA minijet 3 and I absolutely love it. Great for spraying small items like motorcycle parts. I've sprayed everything through it and it lays down like glass. SATA makes good stuff.

I use a Devilbiss for my primer and main basecoat spraying (love it), and a Iwata W-100 mini gun for larger graphics 'cause it sprays well at a real low pressure and lays down silky smooth. When it comes to clear coats I highly trust my Sata, though it took me awhile to get it adjusted just right to lay a medium coat of clear w/o getting runs. My Devilbiss does good with clears, but I can tell a difference between it and my Sata. Sata sprays finer and lays a little smoother. 'bout all I can add... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif

seeducer AS for the walcom I love it but it is a touch up gun which you got covered with the Sata mini Jet which I am sure is nicer then the Walcom but cost lil more I basicaly bought it from my local jobber (30 miles if ya call that local ) HE had mis qouted me the price so he cut me a deal on it plus I let him use my Buegler striper always nice to get in with your jobber LOL but I am almost tempted to use it on the entire job as it lays it down sweet but I know I need a bigger fan width

What's up Mojoz?I haven't played with alot of HVLPs but I'll tell you my views. The Iwata 400 is a sweet gun,but I see it as a base gun for small things like scooter parts or maybe the side of a car. This thing pulverizes material so you move a little slower, but it puts it down about as thin as possible and you get color coverage fast.I tried it with clear (I want to say it was a 1.3 tip) and it just made alot of overspray and the pass speed was about as fast as a dead turtle can crawl.A larger tip and some playing might have worked but I didn't have time.I know a guy that has 2 older Satas,I think a model B and the Super90 and he's having a hell of a time-he either runs it,it's real peely or it solvent pops.I can't think of the name but the newer Sata models are said to be a huge improvement.I personally use a DeVilbiss plus for clear and I'll probably get another for base.I run a 1.3 tip but if I need to clear a whole large car or truck I go the 1.4 for speed. This gun also meets HVLP compliance in California it's transfer rate is so high.I prefer DeVilbiss but I wouldn't have a prob using a newer Sata.As far as the Iwata,I love it and intend on getting one for scooters but I'd try to talk to someone that uses one for clear to find out a little more than I can offer.

i run sata they seem to be the best gun out there i use a nr2000 1.3 for base and a rp 1.4 for clear product i use is standox as for runs in clear throw a dust coat first giving a tack coat so the next coat has something to grab to so you dont give it a the signature series(RUNS) paint job.

I take it you like it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gifSounds like it works good for clear too from your post.Kind of a weird layout but once it hits your hand it melts right in.Technically it's an LVLP(as opposed to an HVLP),but they sure are sweet,eh?.
