Stabilo & Chalk

I've seen mention of using chalk or stabilo pens to draw a preliminary design onto a surface. For those who use either chalk or a stabilo pen, what do you do with the marks themselves when you start painting. Do you paint over them or do you wipe them off just before painting that specific section? Any info would be much appreciated.

I personally would stick with chalk on a freshly painted or wet sanded surface.
You can paint over the chalk the wipe the excess off with water or wax/grease remover.
In using a stabilo pencil, I have found the marks extremely difficult to remove. The pencil is good for guide lines for striping over non-sanded clears. If you need guide marks for layout purposes, you can put a small piece of tape on and then mark with a marker or whatever on the tape. Easy to remove and no ghost marks that only come out in the sunlight.

I wipe the chalk off after I am done taping.
If it is a mural I will do the white layout then remove any excess chalk residue. Then touch up the white if needed and continue with the color.
