Strange Paint Questions... newby to spraying ANYTHING

Hey guys,

I know this forum is dedicated to custom painting in the car/bike,etc. . . world, so I figured this would be the place to ask questions. I am a custom fishing rod builder, and I wanted to start painting some of my blanks. So, I have some questions that I thought you guys could best answer. My substrate is normally graphite/carbon fiber rod blanks. So, I need a paint and clear that can handle the flexing and also the UV exposure that rods have to endure. So my questions are:
1. What do you think my best choice would be for paints and clear/top coat?
2. Would I need to add any additives to make sure the paint remains flexible? Or will that be a non-issue since the flexing of a rod blank is gradual and spread out over the entire blank?
3. If I build a paint box, does it need to be heated to ensure proper drying/curing?
4. Are there any considerations I have not thought of???

Thanks guys for your time. Sorry for an out of the box topic.

Welcome aboard !! I would use a single stage urethane . They don't require a clear coat , and the paint is flexible to a certain point . They also have excellent durability .
#2 Todays paint systems don't require a flex additive /( a thing of the past )
#3 Try to paint in 70 degree or above .If you decide to go with a basecoat / clear coat system , you can control the drying time with different reducers . ie: 60/70 , 70/ 80 , 80+
#4 Practice , practice , practice . Good Luck .
