Quite a few tips and suggestions are located within the Flames Board. I believe if you do a "Search" for "outlin", I believe this will bring up some of those posts.
The tips show how to do the outline around the flames without using a brush...you can spray them on!

If you don't know how to us a striping brush it will take you some time to learn how to load the brush, how to turn the brush around curves, the right amount of pressure to keep the line even all the way around the flame. I have used a brush for many years and it takes a great deal of time & practice to do it right. I used to always brush on my outlines, but I tried Scott's way and I find it a nice alternative. It is much easer and the lines are nice and straight and even. I like the nice long points you can get. I think this is the way I am going to do it from now on.

Thanks guys, I did the search and Im thinking about painting them on. But Ive also seen flames where the outline looked like it was tearing. I just might hire someone to do that.

If you're talking about the chopped striping you can probably do that with minimal practice,it's drawing a precise even line that's hard.
