stripping paint from plastic

I have been painting for quite some time and am doing a memorial paint job on a 97 Honda Valkyrie that I inherited from my father. The bike has been done from front fender to the back of the trailer with murals.
The tank and fenders are steel and being blasted. The question is How do I get the side bags and side covers stripped? Most of the stuff is plastic, the trunk bag is fiberglass, and the trailer is made from an old car top luggage carrier. Is there a stripper that won't eat the plastic?
This is the first job I have come across that the paint wasn't smooth enough to go over on the plastic. There is also a factory paint job under the custom job. I diddn't strip it the first time I painted the bike.

Sand, sand, sand. It's that simple.
I did a job with fiberglass bags and a 20 year old job on it. Sanded it and went from there.
I think strippers are too caustic for the plastic/fiberglass.

You can use a striper on the fiberglass, but I would recommend getting a striper just for fiberglass. Any paint supplier carries it. And be sure that you neutralize it really good after you done stripping.
As for the plastic, it depends on what type plastic that you have, test it with acetone, on a inconspicious place, if it soften the plastic, I would not use a striper on it.

Thanks for the help guys. I was hoping there was a stripper but diddn't think there was.
I priced new bags and the price is way out of my budget. Maybe I'll get a few friends to help me out. I HATE sanding paint off. Especially the murals.
Good thing I have a few months I can't ride anyway.
