well i tried the version for clear and it didn't seem to hose as well as my RP. I Had the Material all the way open and even narrowed my fan down and still had to slowly walk it on.

1.3....I wouldn't say they are crappy guns. I just think I've gotten used to the way my RP sprays clear. I feel that the base version of the SuperNova would spray base well though..The design of the gun is awesome and it feels really good in your hand also, just didn't seem to live up to the hype that the Iwata Rep at Sema was giving it. "Once you spray this gun, you will never go back to Sata"....just a bunch of salesmen bs.
However, I do believe that the gun one uses is just their preference. I know many who LOVE DeVillbiss or LOVE IWATA...I just wished that Sata wasn't so **** expensive:haha:...I did however just score a demo digital HVLP 3000 for only $320:bigokay:

Haven't tried the SuperNova but i do have a LPH400LV and they are sensitive to air pressure but once you get them dialed in they're great. You probably want the 1.4 for clear and 1.3 for base. And i believe there are two versions, the LS is HVLP and the WS is compliant. So the WS would be closer to your RP.

I'm sure it varies somewhat with gun design, but I would also use a 1.4 tip with clear. Maybe that's all it'd need..
