Hi all,
My brother has damaged his fairing on his suzuki gsxr1000,the lower fairing is a matt metallic gray colour,I believe the paint code is yhf phantom gray. My paint shop diddnt have the info to match the code, but kindly mixed a match in basecoat, with a drop matting agent for me. My question,I was advised to just apply the basecoat as normal, and thats the job finished, will basecoat be alright for duability without a clear coat?? Should i try a 1k clear coat with matting agent in it,to dull, but protect surface??
Thanks in advance, once i start painting it,i'll post some pics!
Thanks in advance

Hi Brett, a true base coat is made to be clear coated. By itself it's not meant to be a stand alone paint. Not unless it's what's known as a single stage. If this is the case it will be fine. But if it's a true base coat you will need to clear it,and there are clears that will give you the finish your after.

Hi Brian, thanks for responce. I kind of figured the answer to my question, but hoped, maybe i was wrong. I think (and again i could be wildly wrong?)that paint suppliers in the uk,arent as ...emm.. focused on anything different to car paint? I was advised, that if i looked under the bonnet (ok, hood!)of a new car,id see that a lot of manufacturers dont clear coat the paint, and leave as is. Obviously, because the paints in the full throw of anything on the road etc,a clear coat of some kind probably,as you suggest would be wise.
I wonder if i coat the basecoat with clear, colour (color!)sand it,and leave it dull, that would look ok?? Anyway,i'll post some pics when i start the job, either tomorrow or Monday. Thanks again.

Well, leaving the clear coat sanded would certainly give you a satin finish. The only draw back is that it would be like looking through a dirty window and your base color would be hazy. Keep us informed on your progress. Cheers, thats an English ya know. TTFN ,lol

Can anyone provide me source graphics of suzuki gsxr1000. I mean where it has designed, which software they used?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm are you looking for a graphics image of the GSXR. That I maybe able to help you with. But as for the software they used to design the bike.
that one could be a difficult one to hunt up.
Brian.
