switching to PPG

We are getting ready to switch over to all PPG products. Will I still be able to use my ChromaPremier products that I have left over with the PPG products? For example, can I put down a ChromaPremier base, PPG candy and top it off with ChromaPremier clear? Will there be any adverse affects? I still have several quarts of silver and white base and a couple gallons of clear with thinner and activator.

sure

in my experimenting with doing everything you're not supposed to do the only thing I have found is don't switch up what reducer you use. That is one area where it can have some adverse effects.so if you use the same reducer through out you should have a problem..just my .2. I am sure someone will flip and tell you No you cant do that and start throwing data sheets around..lol!!!

I tend to try to stay within families or systems of paint but I do agree, stick with the same reducer if you can from start to finish and your chances of having a better life improve significantly. About the only place I depart from that is with my epoxy sealer, which I will reduce slightly with acetone. That one doesn't bother me because the acetone will flash off long before the catylist kicks and I am in the habit of letting my sealer set for a couple of hours (if not overnight) so trapped solvent isn't an issue..

That's kind if what I was thinking. Only time I have ever had an issue with different products came from changing reducers mid stream. What's the worst that can happen? They make rolls of 180gr disks for my DA every day for this very reason. Thanks guys.

PPG used to have a reactive reducer but to my knowledge they no longer have it in the line. In that case, if you are using a NON-reactive reducer throughout you will be fine. However the job will not be warrantied unless u use one product top to bottom
