Tank Blanks.

Here's something that some of you custom guys/gals may like. Steel tank blanks. Their great for test panels or a sample for the customer of what the finished paint job will look like. Some people use them for displays in the shop or office. You can modify them do what you want with them, and prep them just as you would on a bike. They are available from Innate. Cool huh,Check'em out. He has two different types. The larger one, I use it for tape out designs. These are made of a composite material with T nuts inserted on the back, which allow you to hang them on a wall.

I have used these tank blanks and they are very cool. Some I have shot and keep as samples- others I have painted. stripped down and used again. Pros: Made of steel / relatively smooth / durable. Cons: Very sharp edges / They seem to be stamped so there are peaks and valleys around the edges / they are somehwat shallow so you can't really wrap graphics toward the top of the tank. Overall all though well worth the money. Great for practice or to show client what thier project may look like.

I lost my link to fiberglass tank blank site. I would like to try those. I was in NAPA the other day checking out thier paint products and they had some fiberglass or hard plastic peices that were almost half tanks. They were very deep. Of course they were demos for NAPA's paint line. Speaking of which... has anyone ever used NAPA's paint line?

I had a couple reps come in a couple years ago and they gave me a custom paint chip swatch with some nice looking custom colors...but I never ended up buying or using the actual NAPA paint line.
The thing about going with a another paint system if you are a shop like mine...you'll have to get all new reducers, hardeners, clears, the NAPA basecoats, so it's just not worth it. If you are a guy that's just doing a side job and you like one of the NAPA colors, then it might it would be worth trying out. Probably save a few bucs to

every custom paint picture i have is martin senior stuff from napa. i also stripe w/ the martin senior acrylic enamal. i like both the crossfire line and the martin senior line. i use HOK uc35 and the sg100 as well as the kandi concentrates over the top of the NAPA base coats, and have had no issues and the paint jobs have lasted well.

i use the NAPA base cause it's close to where i live and i can go out quickly and replinish my supply w/o waiting for it in the mail.

good luck
