TANK PAINT SCHEME

i have used the Friskit paper and i dont use it any more especially on HOK paints, Scott turned me on to Automask paper and it is more HOK friendly inter coat clear is a clear base coat and it eats into that just like base coat, you will always get tape marks in HOK paints but the friskit really did a number on the job i used it on, but i was able to save it. I would use the auto mask or just tape the iron cross with masking tape and fine line tape. Artool makes a Diamond plate free hand shield i dont have it yet but i would check it out if i were you it would save a lot of masking time.

ez thanks man i really don't know what i would do if i didn't find this site. I already made a stencil out of thin plastic i found at the art supply store. but i will definitly check artool out. I have another question though. i remembering reading somewhere on this site that if you lay on a coat of clear before using the stencil it helps with bleed through. it was about a nicely painted tank with a flag and the statue of liberty. the person said they should've cleared over the stencil before spraying. do you just lay the stencil there and spray? i'm also assuming he meant intercoat clear or some other manufactures clear base.

HERE'S THE LATEST IDEA FOR MY NEXT CYCLE TANK. ANY IDEAS OR TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. FIRST THE BACKGROUND WOULD BE PAINTED TO LOOK LIKE DIAMOND PLATE. USING SILVERS AND CHARCOALS. OVER THE TOP OF THIS WILL BE TRIBAL STYLE FLAMES OUTLINED IN BLACK AND PAINTED WITH A TANGERINE CANDY, AND DROP SHADOWS. LASTLY ON THE FRONT OF THE TANK WOULD BE AN IRON CROSS BURSTING THROUGH THE FRONT OF THE TANK. ON THIS WOULD BE HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTOR CYCLES BLOCK LETTERED. ONCE AGAIN ANY INFO TIPS TRICKS ON DOING A CERTAIN ASPECT I'VE PAINTED FLAMES BEFORE BUT NEVER WENT TO THIS EXTENT JUST TWO COLOR FLAMES OVER A SOLID BASE. ONE SPECIFIC QUESTION I HAVE IS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND USING FRISKET ON THE IRON CROSS I'VE HEARD THE GLUE IS REACTIVE WITH CERTAIN PAINTS. I'D BE USING HOK URETHANES. I'VE READ THE PREVIOUS POST BUT DIDN'T SEEM TO FIND A SOLID ANSWER. WHAT IF YOU USE INTERCOAT CLEAR BENEATH THE FRISKET
