Tape out of layout

Regarding your preference to tape out a flame job.
Which do you find best, 1/8 tape with?
Masking tape
Gerber mask
Frisket paper
Something else
I have used tape but it takes so long to fill in the large areas and I have used frisket paper but have had it leave residue.
Is there a consensus that one is better than another?

On motorcycles I like to use tape. I use a combanation of 3/4 and 2" I use the 2" first and cut out where it overlaps, then filling in gaps with the 3/4".

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am prepping to do ghost flames in green pearl on a green Mustang. Hood and both front fenders.

On cars and trucks I use auto mask, which is the same as trsansfer tape used by sign shops. I buy it in 18" wide rolls through coast airbrush. I lay out the flames in fine line apply the auto mask and cut through the paper on the fine line.
