I am using chroma base and chroma clear (Dupont) I am putting a base coat, flames, then the clear. My question would is, roughly how long should I wait before taping out the flames after shooting a couple of coats of base?

Thanks

I AM BY NO MEANS AN EXPERT I JUST FINISHED MY FIRST FLAMES ON MY SCOOTER FENDER.
I'M ALSO USING DUPONT. WELL IT'S BEEN SUNNY AND IN THE 80'S HERE SO I SHOT THE FENDER IN THE MORNING WITH THE BASE COAT ,THEN LET IT SIT IN THE SUN ALL DAY . THAT NIGHT I WET SANDED WITH 1200 AND MASKED. I SHOT THEM THE NEXT MORNING WITH NO PROBLEMS.HOPE IT WORKS FOR U.

It should be close to PPG.Let each coat flash 10-15 minutes before the next and usually you can tape in 45-60 minutes.I prefer to wait twice that since you have about 24hrs to add on before you have to sand and recoat.If your base isn't a solid color,don't sand it,more base or clear will stick within the 24hrs.

LIKE REX SAID WAIT UP TO 2 HOURS
ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT IN A PROPER SPRAYBOOTH.
THE GUIDE ON THE "PAINT CAN" IS SPECIFIED FOR BODYSHOP PAINTERS AND WE CAN CONTROL OUR TEMP TO WHAT THEY SAY.
IF I WAS AT HOME AND PAINTING WITH NO CONTROLLED HEAT I WOULD ALWAYS USE AN ELECTRIC HEAT GUN TO WARM THE PANEL THAT I'M PAINTING.
IF YOU LIVE IN COLD AREA FAST REDUCERS AND HARDENERS ARE AVAILABLE {VICE VERSA}
