Captbo,
I don't know if your 3M tape has an adhesion problem. Check out the posts on this topic.

I gave up on the the 3M blue tape awhile ago and if you are using the 3M green fineline, it's not that great for layouts either.

I've never used the 1/8 plastic stuff...only the tan paper 1/8 tape. Never had a problem with it. Might try it next time.

I have quit using the blue 1/8th inch tape, it just agravates me every time I use it anymore. Leaving glue and pulling in the tight ovals etc. I went back to the 1/8th inch regular tan paper tape, doesn't leave as clean of an edge but it seem to run more consistent in tight turns and it stays there.
Scott are you still using the Tesa tape? Is it working good for you? Been meaning to try that.

Well...actually, I am using the 3M 1/16" tape. used it on about the past 30 jobs. Was weird to get used to at the beginning. Now I've gotten the hang of it. You can definately do some tight turns

But...
Get's kind of squirley though

(no problem now though!)
and...

I do *not* like the way it pulls up in the "ovals" if you leave it and you do not have some 1/4" or 3/4" to hold it down in the "ovals" it will lift up on you. Also, if you want to match a "lick" on the other side, and you have to pull the tape up a couple times... forget it, after that, it won't stick, so you have to tear it off and blend in a new piece...a real pain.

Can **anybody** make some 1/16" worth a crap

(sorry...). That 1/16" fineline has been around since...let's find some more modern tape here

Here is the ideal tape for *me*
3M 1/16" blue plastic tape that the glue will stay with the tape, and not the paint surface.

SW sent me some 1/16" fineline that was blue. This is the closest I have seen to a good quality tape, that would work fine. I still had a problem with real tight turns, but heck, for the most part, it was pretty good!!! You could use this for most common layouts, plus you could also use it with the "automask" because the tape is thicker than 3M's green fineline tape. Thicker tape means you have a better chance of not cutting into the paint surface

Thanks for the sample SW!!!!!!!!!

Oh...by the way. If you like 1/8" tape, I would still go "Tesa" (yellow). I still keep it stocked. I usually only use it on bigger panels though (cars, trucks...)

Enjoy!
