Your welcome!
The Mack series 10 (I think they still make the series 10) is their 'general' or 'original' brush...it's a sword (meaning it has a definite top and bottom to the brush...daggers can be used to make lines with either side of the brush), and the 000 is what I use EXCLUSEIVELY for bikes. Excaliber brush co makes a 0000, but I've found that they use the same handle for the 0000 as their 00 and 000 brushes, and the brush just behaves funny...maybe if they trimmed down the handles??? Anyways, to get ahold of a 000...I buy myne from Dick-Blick. They're less than $10 and I buy a card at a time (I think that's 6???) so that I am guaranteed to get a couple of 'good' ones. I don't know how to tell you how to tell the difference, but when you start trying a few out, you'll see that most brushes are okay for doing everything (tight curves to broad, straight lines), but some are REALLY good for tight curves, and others can only be used for lines...no matter HOW hard you try, they just wont turn. I don't know what causes the differences in the brush, but there are differences.
As far as paint...I use 1-shot which can be purchased from most sign-material-suppliers, or you can get it from companies like NGlantz, Dick-Blick, and Bear Air. Pick up any Airbrush Action and look in the ads. The only problem with 1-shot paint is that it's not urethane. Most painters want to clear over their pinstripes with high-solids clears, and straight 1-shot striping paint sometimes doesn't have enough of a 'bite' into the base paint to keep the aggressive solvents in the clear from causing it to 'lift' (when you spray the clear, the 1-shot paint pulls up and looks like ribbon). Many bike and auto painters have converted to using House of Kolor striping enamels because they seem to 'lift' less when subjected to aggressive clears. The price is a little higher for the HOK striping paint, and there are fewer colors, but it seems to flow out nicer, and stays wet without adding as much reducer as 1-shot.....but, 1-shot has more colors, cleans easier, and is readily-available in most towns if you just look for it.
Expect to pay $4-$6 for 4oz of 1-Shot, and $8-$12/4 oz of HOK.
Good Luck! And dont give up if it looks like your kids finger painting the first couple of times...pinstriping isn't as easy as it looks like it should be!
