I paint stomp boxes and guitar bodies and need a high gloss pro finish. What is the best clearcoat gun for small job? All other advise is welcome too.

Welcome to the forum.
We normally use a regular gun, but if you would like to use a smaller type, I personally like the Iwata W-100. I think their is a newer version out with a slightly higher number.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with Iwata Tech Support, who sounded like an operator looking up answers on a computer. She said the LPH 80 w/ a 1.3 tip would work fine for my uses. Nobody has mentioned the 80 yet. What do you think about the 80?:think1:

I don't know anything about that gun, but I did some checking and that seems to have a slightly bigger 'fan' than the W-100, so I would think that would work fine for painting the guitars!

not sure if this is helpful to you. But i have found that the 1.0 tip touch up guns from harbor freight work great.

its just the painter, reducing right, right air pressure and prep.

I use the Iwata LPH-400 full size gun at the moment and I want the LPH-80, by all reports they're a awesome gun. Don't think they come with a 1.3 nozzle though. From everything i've seen you want the E4 air cap with a 1.2 fluid nozzle. Give you up to a 5.5in fan.

Also the LPH-80 is classed as HVLP ( It's actually LVLP ) and the W-100 and W101 are high pressure guns, so when you get used to the setup and spray technique of the LPH-80 you'll find you have a lot less overspay and use less matarial saving you money in the long run.
