I read the awesome how to on this site about how to paint flames, and I really like the blue ghost flames that are used as an example but there is not enough info for a newbie like me to fill in the blanks as far as painting them. Could someone give more detailed instructions on how to paint these flames for example are the edges painted a solid color or is it all covered in pearl, things like that.

thanks

Welcome to the Flames Board

On that particular job, the flames were filled up solid. This is the easiest way to do a flame job. You simply spray it (you can even use a regular gun if you wish). The How-To was designed to give the absolute basics (along with some tips), to help get do-it-yourselfers an idea of how to get through their first job.

You could also replace the blue pearl with another color if you wish (i.e. red, yellow, silver...). Pretty much anything will look good over a black base, but it seemed that ghost flames are the most popular.
Enjoy!

Thanks buddy, what about the SS#004 set that you have, how was that done? I love that look and I would like to replicate it somehow, but right now my bike is painted in the HOK Kameleon Blue to Red so I don't have the black base to work off of.

However, I may do the helmet in black and put the blue ghost flames on it, what types and brand of paint did you use on SS#004?

Thanks for the great How to BTW, before I read it I had no idea where to begin, pretty much, and it was informative, clear and concise.

Lantz,I think it would look tits if you picked a Camelion that was close (or look at PPGs Harlequin) and just run the outline of the taped off flames-not completely paint flames. It would be subtle but visible.I don't have HOKs chips, but PPG has 2 in your flop scheme that will be similar but off enough to stand out.
