It depends on the brand. Check the tech sheets for the brand that you’re using. Typically you’re safe under 12 hours. If I know it’s going to be a more then 12 hours before I can get to it I just plan to scuff up the surface before taping off my flames so I know that the clear will byte, as long as it’s a solid color. If it’s a metallic or candy base I would shoot the base then apply a couple of coats of inter clear so I can scuff it with out messing up the project. Then before taping I scuff the surface with a Scott Brite. You can use a inter clear for the solid as well if its going to be a couple of days and you don’t want to chance contaminating the color. Personally I always use the inter clear for this type of situation so I don’t have to worry about messing up the color even if it is a solid.
