I did a light screach but did find anything.
My question to all is how can I color match my rear tail light to the body color of my car? My car is a 96 Impala SS and the color is (DCM) dark cherry metalic and I am wanting to tint them the same color as my car.......

Those are made from a guy up in dallas, but I will be painting a toolbox, side mirriors and parts of my car show display I figure I would attempt the tail lights as just buying them from him. besides I need to practice :haha:

Thanks
Adam

I think it might be as simple as taking some base coat, over reducing it, and shooting it on the tail lights, then clearing over it.

Smoked tail light covers don't do much for visibility, and are illegal in many (most? All?) states. I don't imagine this would be much different.

You generally do one to two light over reduced coat of the color and then clear over them and polish like normal. If you make the paint too opaque, you can't see the reflector through the paint and you will get a ticket for not having reflectors.

I read on various forums (google search)
that I can take PPG DBC 500 and mix it 1:1 with color and the spray clear over it, but the jobber quoted me $85.00 in materials.

I also read that I can take some clear and tint it with color. Would I just mix the clear and add a few drops of color?? Can I color sand and buff over it?? The jobber quoted me $53.00 for the materials to try it that way....

How would I reduce the color so the light can shine threw??
