I just picked up some of those $5 mailboxes at Lowes. The smooth sided white ones. I was just wondering, is it better to use primer on these or can I just scuff them up and use the sealer ?

be careful on the spots where the factory white finish is thin like on the bottom and on the inside of the door. I've had the factory finish peel up on me a few times and it ruins the mailbox the more base you spray on the farther it peels. other than that though you can just scuff it up and spray. they're really great to practice on because if you screw em up their only five bucks as opposed to a $200 tank
