Im going to paint a cycle Tank and Fenders and wanted to know what is best to wet sand with after clearing? Ive read some posts where some of you are using a DA, is this best? If so what kind of DA? Thanks!

I've painted a few tanks now and I'm still trying to learn all the ropes. At this point I can't seem to get an even balance of paint so I usually end up with a bit of orange peel or a few runs. Either way I spend quite a bit of time wetsanding. In an effort to save some time I've just ordered some high grit sanding discs for my DA sander. I'll be trying those out soon. I'm sure when I get major blemishes out I'll switch back to wetsanding by hand but I'm going to try to save some time with the DA initially.

Before even using this though I can tell you you'll have to be really cafeful if you want to use a DA sander. You can cut quite a bit really quick and easily ruin a job. I'd really like to hear from others that use their DA sanders as well though.

Thanks-Stretch

I won't get into one of my ramblings now but if you've never used a DA start out with the paint prep sanding to learn it.Even 2000 used wrong will ruin a job quick.

Another question, after wet sanding Ive used the 3M glaze with a buffer and foam pad and it doesnt seem to shine like it should. What are some good tips on buffing? What do you guys use to buff with?

Check out the How-To section on this site. Using a glaze after wetsanding is skipping a few steps are really isn't doing much. You should start with a cutting compound on a foam pad then move to a polish with a waffle pad and then use the glaze at the end. The How-To section explains it very well.
