Totally New to This, Need Advice

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm not really coming here as an aspiring hobbyist.

I have been shopping for a new car, and have fallen in love with the Mazda MX-6, which also just so happens to be very hard to find, at least where I am. I have found one car that may work, but the problem is that it's white. I don't want to offend anyone - it's simply a color preference. I really do not want a white car. My mom suggested that I could paint some designs on it (which would be easier and possibly turn out even cooler than trying to repaint an entire car.)

I know that I could make a huge mess of the car that way, so before you try to talk me out of it, let me say that that is why I am asking for your help.

I am thinking what I need to do is sand off the clear coat (does that need to be done by hand, or is there some way to buff it off?)

I would then like to paint my designs using a stencil, top with a pearl coat, and then a few clear coats. I understand that if I skimp on materials, the end result look terrible, but since this is going to be a one time project, I'm also looking to keep the costs down.

Edit: I've done some more research, and it looks like I just need a spray paint gun for a the pearl and clear coats. Is there anything I should look for/avoid in a spray paint gun?

Could that also be used with my stencils? Would anyone be able to recommend a good brand of paint to use with the gun? What about clear coat/pearl? Any especially good brands?

I appreciate your help on this matter - I know those are a lot of questions, but I want to know exactly what I'm getting into before I start anything. If I can't improve the cars color in some way, it might be a deal breaker.

Moonstain.

I don't want to discourage, I want to stop you dead in your tracks. You really do not want to do what you want to do although its do-able.

Yes, you could lightly sand your existing clear coat (either by machine or hand) and then do such artwork as you see fit over top of it and then re-clear the thing but it would require skills and tools that you probably do not have. It is no little thing to sand the existing clear coat in prep for additional work, it is no little thing to use stencils well, and as a great many people will tell you, shooting clear coat for the first time can be an adventure into the realm of disaster. Oh, and good guns are expensive.

Your best bet is to keep on looking for a car that better suits your taste. By the way, I like the MX6 a good bit myself.
