touch up work

I had a customer lay his bike down the other day. he has scratches in the tank to the metal, and i'll have to paint the other parts that are replaced.

my question is, can you touch up a flame candy job? I painted silver base, gold flame w/ shadow, then candied the whole thing.

what do you guys do, touch up or repaint the whole thing?
what steps are taken in touchup?

If it's a pair of split tanks you could leave the good one alone and match the new work to it but if it's a one piece tank don't cause yourself undue grief,just strip it and start over.Somewhere on the blending you'll end up with an overlap of the candy and have a darker area.
