Transfering Design

Hi All

New to this board but it looks great, and the most informative paint site I have come across.

I have been airbrushing leather jackets for some time, but have now decided to start on some bike parts. I have numerous designs but can anybody advise as to the best way to transfer a design( ie Flames) to a fuel tank or fender prior to masking up.

Thanks in Advance

Gordy,
There's several ways to transfer designs. Remember that you're going from a 1 deminsion (jackets) to a 3 demension piece you're painting on. Simple designs like flames can be drawn on the tank... with white chalk, then a wet sponge will take off any residue. On a masked off tank or fender you can use carbon paper, but be careful because it contains oils. If you're doing a mural right on the side of a tank you can use Saral paper (get it at a local art supply store) to transfer the design just like carbon paper, but with no oils and it will wipe off with wax and grease remover. Try to stay away from stabilo and grease pencils -- You'll end up with craters and fisheyes --- Bones!~
