Truck bedliner

I need to put a liner in my truck and I've looked at Rhino Linings and one I could apply myself. I'd like to save the bucks and put one in myself, but I don't know if it will be as good. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Ask around about Gator Guard. It's thinner than the big name stuff but it's very durable and the prep isn't so intensive. The side of my toolbox is still plastered with overspray 7 years later from being downwind of a job.Don't go by their quantity per job though, double it.About $200 should get a good protective coat on an 8' bed and tailgate.Watch the overspray and wind though,it won't come off once it sets up.

Left a little out on that one.The stuff doesn't lay down in that big rolling peel like the thick ones but if you put it on thick it's not bad.If you put it on thin it's a little rough, kind of like skid tape but smoother. You also spray it through a Schutz gun like 3M's for the bottles of rocker guard. You'll have to dig up a bottle to use from a bodyshop. The gun is fairly cheap though,I think $30+/-.The stuff takes quite a while to mix up to,it's pretty thick. The last time I used it I spent a few minutes stirring it.Another option that uses the shutz gun is Wurth's SKS.I've done many floorboards with it.It's basically the sound deadner found in the wheelhouses of Mercedes and Porches.Killer stuff but it is a little softer than the bedliners.Pricewise it's probably about the same but this stuff comes in the shutz bottle about a qt and 3/4 - 2qts in size. They do have a few colors but black is about all that's decent, the rest are neutral and off pastels-the white even looks bad.

Rex, Thanks for the information. Eastwood carries the Gator Guard and sells an undercoating gun for about $15. I also found a product called Herculon that is about the same price. I think black is probably the color I'll use. Now I just have to get to it before the weather turns to winter.

Thanks

Its funny that im reading about this bed liner now, I am currently 80 gritting my whole truck "used for hunting trips" and rolling on bed liner over the whole thing, this truck will not scratch anymore going through the woods. It will be ugly but most likely one of a kind.

Hey,if the money for matrials is right you can't beat the durability. The rattlecan deal is the cheapest by far but now touchups are a thing of the past.

Rex, I put the bed liner in my truck yesterday. It took some time to get it cleaned and scuffed, but the application was real fast. I got up this morning and went to the shop to check it out. It's very nice and only cost about $150.

Thanks

Rex, I found two bedliner kits. Gator guard and Herculiner. They can be rolled on or sprayed on. I used Herculiner because it was in stock at shucks. I rolled the first coat on and when it was dry, about four hours, I sprayed the second coat and let it dry overnight. It came with very good instructions and there was an installation video I downloaded from there website. They also have, for an extra fee, UV protection that can be applied to keep it color fast.
