Hi everyone..how would I go about painting a two tone black(gloss black top and flat black sides)?I've seen it but don't know how to pull it off. Also I want to paint the chrome struts flat black..do I have to remove the chrome or just scuff them? Thanks!

I don't know if your still looking for an answer on this... your post is pretty old. If not, maybe somebody else can use an answer.

Being new at this stuff myself, I'd been wondering about this too. I found somewhere, may have been this site, that you can use what's called a flattening agent in your clear to spray over the part you want flat black.
I haven't tried this yet myself, but hope to in the coming months.

The way I would tackle this would be to paint the whole part gloss black first, then wetsand and polish. Then lay out whatever your doing in the flat (like mask the flames or two tone). Then just scuff with a gray scotch bright and clear with a flat clear. PPG has pre packaged clears you can get through your jobber, all you need to do is reduce, and add hardener. In some cases you may want to add alittle " normal" clear to the mix to change it from a flat to a satin finish.
