Sprayed my bike parts with HOK Oriental Blue Candie over a silver base. Just about finished taping off my flames. The flames will be the same color (Oriental Blue) with HOK White Pearl added. Looking at 2 or 3 coats for flames. Was just told not to add pearl to the color coats of the Oriental blue. He said to add an extra coat of clear with with the pearl in it instead of mixing with the candie coats. Said I will not be able to seee the pearl if I mix in with the candie coats on the flames. Is this true? I am ready to spray my flames and am unsure what to do. I want to keep my flame thickness to a minimum.

The second set of flames on top of the above flames will be an outline of flames done with a silver white mix with white pearl over reduced for a real ghost like look. Sounds good on paper anyway! We will see! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbutt.gif

Hi, yes that's correct. The pearl is aded to the clear, not the color. I have added it to Candy's in the final top coats but you dont get the real "pearl" look it makes the color sparkle a little. Hope this helps, Jim

Since you're doing flames float your pearl in some basecoat (or intercoat) clear to keep the edge minimal. It's alot cheaper than topcoat clear too.
