Using green house as a garage spray booth

That looks like it could be a pretty good option for home use. Just make sure to seal it up good with caulk at the seams. Do they make any larger ones?

I just recently saw something very similar on a road trip and was going to look into finding one locally. My homemade canopy setup is still working out for me but I'd be interested in hearing how it works if you decide to go that route. Keep us updated.

Greenhouses are always humid inside. As long as you can get rid of the moist air sounds like a good idea.

Another alternative for an in the garage booth is a contraption I came up with. I built a frame using 1-1/2" PVC pipe. Go to the Dollar store and get some white sheets and tie them to the frame. I'm using a box fan with a furnace filter to exhaust the fumes. I know it sounds a little primative but it worked out pretty good and cost about $50 bucks for the pipe, sheets, and fan.

I figure with one fan pushing air in and the other pulling air out, and being inside away from the sun, that it should stay dry in there. At least as dry as the garage.

As for larger ones I've seen some on the net but I was trying to keep the cost down below $400. They can get pretty expensive.

I was going to make one of those canopy style ones. But I didn't think I could seal it up as well as I could the green house. My main concern is keeping as much paint fumes contained as I possible can. My garage is connected to the house by a door and the attic. I'm concerned about my wife and baby being in the house and those fumes (especially the iso's) getting in. And it would be nice to try and keep some dust off the parts too.

It'll probably be a few weeks until I order it, but when I do I'll post a report on how it works out.

Hey Alxxnova-

I'm in the same boat. I've got a 6 month old and as soon as he was born I made the canopy setup. I've got photos of it in another thread somewhere on here. I'm sure it's not as airtight as the green house but it really works in containing the smell. I just open the garage a bit when I start painting and the wife says she can't smell a thing. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a more stable unit. When the wind gets blowing the walls on the canopy can start flapping a bit. It's not a problem, just noisy.

I just built an 8x8 booth in the corner of my shop for under $80. Did 2 8x8 walls, put them up in a corner with an outside window. I put 6mil heavy construction plastic sheeting on both walls and over the top. I put a window fan in the window to suck out the overspray, and a hole with a furnace filter on the opposite wall to feed in clean air. It works real well, and was cheap.

i am going to just cover the walls celing and floor with that plastic tarp stuff you can buy in large rolls for the garage booth, along with adding fans to pull the fumes out....
