Using vinyl for graphics

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for using vinyl as a paint mask. I followed Scott's advice on having a local sign maker cut me a paint mask using vinyl material. Any advice on application, painting, and removal?

Thanks in advice for the help

I take the vinyl and peel it off the backing then shake some powder on to my hand and rub it onto the adhesive side of the sticker. Fresh Vinyl will stick like welded metal unless you make it less tacky. Apply it where you want it and then shoot you paint on, don't blast it on unless you want a huge paint edge. Wiat for it to dry up and remove -- You shouldn't have any problems -- maybe use a pair of twezers to aid in the removal of the sticker -- Good Luck -- Bones!~

In th future ask your sign shop if they have "gerber mask" which is a type of vinyl that is made to paint over. Plus it won't stick to hard or leave a residue behind.

Thanks for the tips. The vinyl material is the yellow 3-M material that is specifically made to be used as a paint mask. I think it is very similar to Gerber mask. I don't think there will be a problem with the adhesive.

I was wondering if there were any other tips on how to place it on the tank and manuver it around to get exactly right.
