This is where my on line open to the public yahoo gallery is for my project.

I wants to say thanks to those that offered advice, and tips.

I learned a great deal, as you will see from the gallery.

I had many problems, and those are fixed now.

the job is not 100% perfect, but not bad, and i can live with it.

All that is left is a bit of detail sanding to clean up a few places, and final clear coating.

Thanks again all....... Mac

Way to go Mac. Gotta be proud of yourself! That isn't an easy job to tackle for a first one!
Mix your natural artistic ability and learn a few paint tips and see what you can do!

would you believe I spent 9 hours just taping the red stripes? Well I did... dirt dust chemical reactions and everything.. I am letting the first "Real Coat" flash just now..that is of clear coat....

Again thanks for making this site possible, and to many that offered support, tips, and insight! Mac

Rex 1 thing I learned and a bit to late, was when working with masking film, paint can creep under the edges!

it did on ALL the stars. Grrrr.... by the time I got to the red stripes I came by the idea to shoot clear first and seal the edges, before shooting red. had I done that for the stars first that would not have happened.

The step would have been place the star masks and then shoot clear with the stripes area covered. Then after the clear flashed, shoot blue. Let the blue near dry and peel the stars masks.....

The edges would have been sealed that way and any clear that got under the edges wopuld not be noticable. I spen a great deal of time scraping the edges straight with a clay pot makers tool. It looks like a paint brush handle, with a arrow head on one end, and curved hook point on the other end...

Almost all the stars had to be cleaned up! Grrrrr..... live and squirm eh? Thank you Rex..... When this is done the truck or car will be next..... The car matters more than the truck..... The truck will be a quick patch up this year, and maybe in 2 years I will get all new body parts and do it right.

i don't care for the newer 4x4 trucks. Mine is 1984 chevy with leaf spring front axel...
