Wash Primers

I'm getting ready to to start working on my next project. I know i want to take all the original paint off of it. I'm reading up on etching and wash primers and most of the information on them says not to use them over media-blasted metal. Why is this? also is there a way around this where i could sand blast the surface then apply the wash primer?

I'm not positive on this, but my guess would be that when you have something media blasted, it does not affect the metal, only the paint. It will remove the paint without any damage to the metal. So what you would need to do is clean the surface, sand it, then prime it.
If it was sandblasted, then you could just clean it, then prime it.

what are you working on? if you're sandblasting paint off you should never waist your time with etch-primers, the best and only primer you want on blasted bare metal should be an epoxy primer or some the the new "hybrid" direct to metal primers.
