Water colour / poly clear

Hello everybody, I think i've asked a similar question before but I recently asked my local paint shop if there was any special method or precautions to using a poly uretane clear (shirman williams) over a water based colour and flame job (createx).
I have decided there are no water based clears worth looking at but i really like the way the water based colour looks.
If anybody can offer a method of clearing my job without destroying the water based paint I would love to hear it, or perhaps it's fine to just clear right on top of the colour without fear?
Not too sure about this and neither is the paint dealer (he's never worked with water based before).
Thansk everybody

The only thing to do is spray a tack coat,
Then clear as normal.

If you are talking about Createx or a similar water based paint then there should be no problem clearing. Just make sure the water based paint is completely dry . I used this on my tank and have had no problems. I let the water based paint dry for at least 24 hours. Some on this forum don't like the thought of using Createx or other brands, but it worked fine for me and I too liked the colors that were available.

I use createx on a regular basis and have not had a problem yet. They are made to be cleared with urethane. I spray a dry or tack coat then lay it down like normal. The biggest complaint I have is they build up quick and have a pretty tall tape edge. One of the things I like is when you do fades or highlights the clear blends everything together nicely. They have a newer version of the Auto Air line and I am getting some samples sent to me.

Earlier this month I went to an Airbrush Getaway and met the Owner of Createx. He was explaining the new "DETAIL" line of colors and bases exclusively made for the automotive painting field. Now I'm not a big of waterbased paints but after he explained how they trashed the old paints and started from scratch on the new 4002 detail I was pretty impressed, and they employed the talented Vince Goodeve and Steve Driscol(sp) who was actually there demo-ing the stuff. They gave us samples to try out and just messing around with it I like the stuff. I haven't put it on a cutomer's bike yet, but I do like the fact that it needs no thinning or very little with Createx reducer, you don't have any mixing mistakes like with urethanes and It won't kill you as quick as breathing urethane fume if you forget your mask

Bones, How do the new paints flow? There was always a tip dry and clogging problem with the old stuff.
