Waterbourne sealer

I need some help. I'm painting a couple old helmets (throw-aways) as a test panel, prior to actually attempting to paint my new bike. They have some old paint on them so I thought I would shoot some Waterbourne sealer over them prior to an epoxy primer. I'll be shooting epoxy primer on the actual bike so I want to use the same base for my helmets. Question is, do I let the waterbourne fully cure and then sand prior to my epoxy primer?
Thanks,

I'm not sure why I'm being ignored, maybe it's just a stupid question. I guess I'll just shoot the epoxy primer over the old paint on the helmets. Since I won't being using a reducer/thinner, maybe there won't be a reaction with the existing paint. I'm talking to myself here.

I'd try the epoxy on it,just don't hose it on too wet and hit one spot and wait to see what happens.
