Guys really need some help ,just left garage in utter disappointment. I was spraying a set of fenders and tank over an old (2 years ago)paint job I did . The old paint was in very good shape and I wet sanded it all with 500. I wipe it all down with the HOK post sand and then tack cloth. I Layed two coats of KO-SealII on following the directions to a tee. I waited an hour after last KO-Seal and mixed up some Stratto blue met. 2 to 1 with Ru-310 Im in Jersey temp was around 75 today. After spraying first coat medium , I notice this sort of bubbling in one spot on front fender and two or three spot on tank. Meanwhile rear fender is perfect, needless to say @@#$$%$^^%^&&.This is first time Im spraying HOK,though I dont think it the paint. When i peel away the lifting it goes right to old paint , lifts the blue and the Ko-seal.
1. What did I do wrong ,and how do I fix it?
2. Why only in few spot on two of three pieces?
3. Can someone put the chair back under my feet, this rope is getting tight!

I took some picture giong to see if I can get them here.

Help a brother out please. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/foreheadslap.gif

I've never sprayed that sealer, so I couldn't tell you.

The only thing I have seen sealer do is 'wrinkle' if you let it sit too long before applying the basecoat.
Don't know if this is it though.
Never seen anything "bubble" that quicky.

Yeah clean the _hit out of it ,used HOK post sand, and tacked it. I spoke with Mary @ HOK today, she says that its possible thatin those few areas that lifted the seal might not have been dry. I waited 1hr after final seal coat , she said to litly sand with 600,spot seal those areas and respray the base. Also said let dry for 2hrs,which seem pretty long. Gonna try Wednesday , Ill let you know. Thanks for the replies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yikes02.gif

I hope you get it figured out,Maybe HOK hasn't perfected it yet.I noticed that there have been a few posts about KO-SEAL in the past,(people having problems with it).I use thier epoxy primer on bare metal and love it but, never tried the ko-seal for pre painted stuff.,I think I'll continue to stay away from it.I use DuPont or Nason's sealer with no problems yet.Jim

I've never had problems with the ko-seal. the only thing I can think of is that its an adhesion problem, or its not drying right...

I'd suggest following the post sand cleaner up with a wax and grease remover. Make sure you apply it with one cloth and remove it immediately after with a seperate dry cloth. I'm sure the post sanding cleaner is meant to get the sanding residue off. The extra cleaning couldn't hurt and may have been your problem.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.Decided to bring it to Dr Striper and come down to bare metal just to eliminate any possible reaction between the old and new. Have any of you used thier KD 2000 Direct to Metal Primer, and if so was all well.Mike

I had the same problem a few months ago. Rear fender and tank were great, front fender bubbled as if paint stripper had been applied. All were preped the same way and were clean. I resanded the front fender and resrayed. No problems the second time. Never did figure it out.
