this is frustrating.
i had so much trouble with people matching colours. and now i having problems with the clear.
finally got the blue part looking fantastic. had it looking glossy like a mirror with the first coat of clear. very happy with it. 25 minutes later i apply the second coat of clear. same conditions as the first coat.
major reaction broke out all over it. like miniture crows feet. some sort of major reaction.
what has caused this?
the photos really dont show it properly.

this is doing my head in big time. last week i painted my tank and it come out perfect.

with the problem mentioned above, i sanded the problem all out and dusted another base coat on. SAME THING HAPPENED!!
i have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned with wax and grease remover.
is it a compatability issue ? using a different brand thinner in paint? or in the clear?
i have spent so long on this piece and it has me at my wits end. it does have a lot of failed attempts on it now as the color was wrong 3 times so i kept re doing it.
What do i do. i think i need to sign up to a mental health forum at this stage!
learning painting can be frustrating.

looks and sounds like u have a fry up. how much time did u give the first few coats of wrong colour to dry? doing it too soon will cause previous coats of clear to fry. ull need to let it fully dry for a about a week and try light coats of clear to seal it. if that doesnt work work which in ur cause it mightnt cause of the huge wet paint build u hav u may hav to remove all previous paint and start again.....

thanks for the reply Redge. i think youre on the money. too many previous coats! i did wait for them to dry but not enough for a full cure of so many coats on top of each other i would say. i started to remove them all tonight. im starting over now that i have a colour im happy with.
as this is plastic motorcycle fairings, where i rub through to the raw abs in spots, is this ok to prime with 2 pak primer also? will it take properly? the raw spots will only be small as im trying to rub back to the original paintwork

yes if only small rub throughs they will be fine. if u create large areas where the plastic is maybe look at buying a plastic adhesion promotor they are available cheap from trade stores in pressure paks. small rubs through to plastic arent a problem as long as they are scuffed and cleaned with a wax and grease your primer will stick fine
