Hi all,
Got a question here I need answered asap. My neighbor had a piece of trim shattered on his car. He got a used replacement and asked if I could paint it for him. I said sure and yesterday he handed me a can of Chromabase garnet red and his trim piece. Since I'm in Michigan, no heated garage, and today it will be abnormally warm for this time of year(70 deg), I have to get this done today. The only reducer I have here is HOK's RU311 can I use this with the Dupont Chromabase??? I plan on using HOK's uc35 for the clear coat...am I headed for disaster?!?!
Thanks!!!

reducer

yes you can, just make sure you leave enough time for the solvent to flash off, before clearing. Using 2 different products really is not the best way to go due to compatibility issues. The reducers have different tail solvents in them, which is the last to evaporate, some more quickly than others. Thus allowing the time. Since the only component that's from a different mfg is the base. So you should not have any issues and be good to go. What can really bite you is when you use products from 2 or 3 different mfg. Hope this helps.

Thanks Brian,
That helps a lot! Especially with my comfort level of giving my neighbor a finished part that will look good! :) Fortunately we're gonna have another 70+ degree day here in the soon-to-be frozen north so I can ..git 'er dun !!

UPDATE: Got 'er done and it looked great. No problems at all. Neighbor was very satisfied, only problem is he now has to wash and wax the rest of the car so it looks as good as the new trim!! :yesnod01:
