What is the best method to paint over chrome motorcycle parts?

Hello

I have a bunch or chrome bits on my bike that I want to paint black. I have read up on many ways to do this....

Scuff off the shine, primer, paint
Scuff off the shine, coat with Zinc Phosphate primer, paint
Scuff off the shine, use a shelf etching primer, surface primer, paint
Scuff off the shine, Alidine wash, primer, paint

Has anyone had success painting over chrome and if so what process did you use to prep the part?

Thanks

Chris

Assuming they are metal parts (not chromed plastic), the best method of course would be to have the parts stripped down to the metal. If that's not an option, you can sandblast the chrome to rough it up, then epoxy prime the parts. Then you can paint them. I've had pretty good luck with the latter method.

im with az on the sandblasting way. i did some parts on my bike last year like that and the fiish is holding up great. i dont think i would trust just a sandpaper scuff job.
