What kind of primer

Hi,
working on a car that has a lacqer paint job on it, do not want to strip it down to bare metal. What kind of primer can you recommend, to go over the lacqer.
planning on spraying ppg dbc basecoat with stratoclear clearcoat.
ppg dealer says to just use acrilic lacqer primer. is this ok? what do you recommend.
striping old lacqer is not a ption on this job.

I usually would not recommend this, but it appears you have no choice, so here is my suggestion.
Use any type of epoxy primer so it basically seals the lacquer paint in. If you use a lacquer primer, then apply bascoat over it, most likely it will "move" or dow strange things on you.

At least this will give you your best shot.
