white/black pearl question.

Hey, newbie here, lot's of great info on this forum but I haven't found quite what I'm looking for. My friend is getting ready to paint his car soon and we were thinking of some fun ideas for it. I was curious if it's possible to do a white pearl or candy over a black base so that the car looks solid white but does a gray scale fade when the light hits it right. Any information on if this is possible and how it would be accomplished would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
The only thing I can think of that is even remotely close to what you want is made by Alsa. This does the opposite of the effect you want though. This starts out black, then turns to white with some heat on it.

I don't know of anything that you put over a black base that turns it white though.

If you use the Alsa stuff you can spray a candy color over it and when it gets heat on it it will turn the candy color.....

I noticed they mentioned that on the web site and it sounded pretty cool. My only hesitation with that paint would be any time anyone leaned on the car they'd leave a big white ass print :haha: What we're really looking for is a way to add some edge to a gray tone. I love clean cut grays, whites and blacks, but they're so common anymore I was trying to find a way to give them a bit of an edge without adding color.
