Wood Grain

Here's a ref for wood grain for you. It's the one on the right of the photo. There are many ways of doing this effect. Check out the video section, there"s an example there to.

That is cool Brian. I have had success doing wood grain on illustration board and will be doing a helmet soon. One thing I learned on doing this technique is to be random and don't worry about making a mistake. There are so many types of wood that unless you are painting blind folded, your peice will turn out well.
