Wrinkled Paint Effect

I would like to try some accents using the wrinkle paint effect. I remember seeing this in passing a while back but I am not sure of the steps and technique. The basis of the effect was making the paint on the wet side then placing saran wrap on the paint.

I use Kustom Shop paint which of course dries very quikly. Is there an additive that is used in the paint to slow the drying process?

There are retarders but i've never used them so not sure about them. You should use a slow reducer and spray the paint wetter than normal and spray smaller areas at a time. House of Kolor make a few Marblizers and they do a neutral Marblizer that is clear and you just add Dry Pearl to it to make any color you want. Alsa aslo have the same thing called Crazer with a few more color options but don't know if they do a neutral Crazer.

Actually, they called this the 'marble' or 'bowling ball' effect.
They also do have a 'wrinkle' finish paint. I believe you just spray this and it wrinkles on your own.

Paint Type

Thanks- Now that I know the type of paint I need, I can search and locate it. Just a side Q- Are there any pro/cons between HOK and Kustom Shop paint.

On another note: Something I have learned in my main business (video production /3D animation), the better someone is in their craft the more they share their expertise with others. That is what makes this and other forums like it so great.

Thanks again.

Put an intercoat clear ( clear basecoat ) over the marblizer, don't apply a 2 pack clear directly on the marblizer. I did that and found that it made the marblizer flow out a lot with the 2 pack clear. You can also tint the intercoat clear with a candy concentrate, i use the HOK silver white marblizer a lot with different tinted intercoat candies.
