X-otic paints

Hi, I have been using X-otix base, candies, and clears for about 4 months with very good luck. Their candies lay down beautifully, and both their production clear and final clear flow out very well. It's worth a try.

I saw the X-otic line of paints on www.Innate.com and was wondering has anyone tried them I think they are suppose to be similar to HOG paints.

Good question. I'v heard of them too. I'm a big hok fan so how does x-otic compare with hok?
Price and quality?

The X-otic line of paints was formulated by the same chemist that Kosmoski used. So they are very similar. If you buy a color chart, I believe it has a conversion chart to mix all the HOK paint.
Mike Learn uses the X-otic line exclusively if that matters to anyone.

I don't know much about the history of X-otics but last I knew Jon Kosmoski and HOK were still happily owned by Valspar.

Well I'm just starting to use X-otics after Nate @ innate talked me into it. My first total X-otic job will be done soon and I'll post the results /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bigokay.gif... Last year I played a bit with their silver satin and crystals. I had pretty good luck with them both although the crystals can be some what of a pain.

Last I heard the VP of HoK I think Bob hughes was the one who started X-otic. They have been around for a few years(1999) already but I heard they just started to make their own clear not to long ago.

I finely used X-otic.

I couldn't tell the deference between it and HOK, they both lay on just as nice. I'll be trying there crystals next though.

I've slowly replaced some HOK with X-otic paints. Can't tell the difference. I still use the HOK clear, primer and sealer though because I haven't had to buy any lately.

I heard a week or so back from my paint supply person that Jon Kosmoski left Valspar and HoK. Any truth to this???

No clue about this, but I hear it was over a disagreement with the direction of HoK.

I met Kosmoski a year ago and he talked about staying with Valspar to ensure they kept HoK quality high. Hmmmm....wonder where things go from here?

talked to a Valspar person the other day and they said Jon Kosmoski is still involved with House Of Kolor.

I guess my only concern is the quality of their product and hopefully it remains high.

I see that X-otics has a new product out called Crystals. Does HOK have something similar? By chance, Do you think that the HOK paints will work with X-otic Crystals? THANKS!

I've been using Xotic for just about a year now and love 'em. They have all the HOK formulas so you can still use the ones you're familiar with, but their color book lets you mix truly unique stuff. The crystals are really a neat effect although you need to get familiar with them first. I just finished my Road King & the pics are on the Xotic website - results, page 1.
