Yellow flames over red base question

I want to paint bright yellow flames over an equally bright red base. It seems to me that I'll have to apply a number of coats of yellow to adequately cover the red, right? Is there another way of getting proper coverage without excessive paint buildup? Maybe a thin coat of some white primer before the yellow? I'd like to avoid creating thick paint edges if possible.

Thanks.

BS,
*Always* use a white under a yellow, whether you are doing yellow as a base or in graphics. Yellow is probably one of the most transparent of colors.
Instead of using sealer, just use a white basecoat color-It is thinner and will produce the same results.

Be sure and use a good a gun that provides good atimization.

Tip: I always put about 10% yellow in the white just in case the edge is a little thick on the flames, instead of a white edge you will get a light yellow...can't even notice it!!

Thanks for the tip. Wouldn't of thought of adding yellow to the white myself, but it makes perfect sense. That's why I like this board...everyone is anxious to help each other out.
