Actually, that gold wing was a pic I just grabbed on the internet

I know this is a month old, but I know for sure what made that color. I just talked to the person who supplied the materials for it a couple days ago. That is all powder pearls in clear. There's a silver metallic primer covered with an orange candy base, then a candy tangerine pearl powder, and finally a satin gold ghost pearl. Its deeper than Lambo orange, but roughly the same flop.

Interesting. So the gold pearl is applied after the candy?

Sure enough. I figured it was a gold base too. It's not. That's a super fine gold ghost powder mixed at about a teaspoon or less per quart and shot once. Add too much and it becomes a color.... I know this because I just messed up the paint job on my eclipse with the stuff and am having to sand it off right now. Doesn't take very much at all.

Yup. That is the answer. They are the originators of the pearls in that paint. Matt, the person you'd talk to if you called them, is a helpful guy and their products are good. I've saved a lot of money mixing my own paints with their powder pigments. I'm not a production painter. I only do 1 car at a time and I take my time getting them as perfect as I can. Those pigments have performed great for me. They do take more time to get just right than a premade paint. The chance of error with the powders is much higher also. On the other hand, some of the paint I "messed up" by over or under mixing the powders has actually been some of the more beautiful colors... impossible to replicate again if I had to repair it though.
