My first try at painting candy.

Great thanks. I'd still like a slight amount of shimmer bling in the paint, I really like yours! Looks like I might give specialist paints a ring to see what sort of combination might work.

They are a good company to deal with, with some lovely products. Ive bought candy from them, but too be honest, havent used it yet,so cant comment on that specifically, but ive used there shimmer range to great effect, their sparkle pearl is great also. Ive got no connection with this company that we speak of,by the way!!!
One of the things I fancy trying is to use one of their new "base pearlz" as a base coat for a candy finish,to see what it looks like? Youve got me all excited about paint again!
Im also going to say that the auction site company's candies are fantastic to spray. The are called nu-agane paints, check them out.

I was wondering about that. I just bought a 500ml bottle of gold pearl from them as I want a colour mid way between gold and orange. Was wondering what orange candy would look like over the gold pearl? I'm looking for a darker orangey gold finish that only lights up in sun. Trouble is, paint is too expensive to keep experimenting with!

I wonder? I bought some solid gold pearl last week, which looks to the untrained eye (mine!)like nice gold paint. The pearl i was thinking of was the almost translucent type of thing, that would in differant lights tint the finish to achieve the look your after.

As you say, experimentation can be expensive. I havent any pearl in my workshop at the moment,so i cant go spray something for you,as an example. However,if you not in a hurry,I'll probably be spraying some z1 kawasaki panels candy in a week or two,and might try pearl on them?

It would be great if anybody with more experience could step in and offer advice, especially about if im thinking in the right direction with a pearl over the candy,to give it some kind of highlights???

When i started the fj trike paintjob,i sprayed one panel gold, one panel silver, and applied candy over both to see what looked best? There wasnt much of a differance to my eyes,so I went for the silver base.

Here's another thought Old Nail, what about gold pearl base, then gold shimmer and then candy??? It might work?

Well I'm in no hurry, I'd rather get it right than do it over. I might spray a little of the gold pearl on a test part to see how it looks, part of the fun in learning is in experimenting. I've also seen some factory paint in a colour similar to what I want, not real custom but still very nice.

Can i give a further plug for the candy paint suppliers NU_AGANE paints.
I was having difficuly with the courier service that delivers their paints, and to cut a long story down, within less than 24 hours the paints sitting in my workshop, waiting to be used. This is an england based company,so great for us brits.

Ive not link with them other than being a satisfied customer,so please consider using them!!!!!
