Well I finally got home from painting...

I cleaned everything, did primer sealer. then my basecoat, then my intercoat clear.. I will be going to get the parts tomorrow and mask them off and hopefully get the silver on.

I have 2 questions.. Hopefully you guys come on before I leave tomorrow..

1. I have a little bit of orange peel on 2 of the pieces in the intercoat clear. Do these matter at this point??? Or just wait till I get final clear on and buff out if I can still see any.

2. What should I do with the little bits of dust that got on it when I knocked over a piece of plywood which brought some dust up into the air.. A couple pieces have some, but not really much pieces of dirt on them... What should I do, if anything at this point.....??? Should I scuff up a tad with anything before adding the silver lines/final clear????

Im not to worried about it, cause its not to to bad but would like to fix as much as possible before I go any farther... If possible.

I will post a couple pics in the am. Im to tired to right now... lol

Thanks again for the help!!

From what I gather, it sounds like you decided to go the pinstripe route. Do the main color first, do the silver metallic, clearcoat, resand, add the pinstripes, then clear again?

I thought you were not doing the pinstripes. If not, the silver should have been sprayed first, then mask up the cracks, then the main color. This way you won't see any nasty silver edges you get when you spray silver against another color.
If you went the pinstripes route, these would cover this edge.

Anway, if you got some chunks in the paint, you can lightly 1500 or 1000 grit these and spray a little more base over the color.

As far as the interclear, once you spray your clear, you can work out the peel. this is as long as you lay it on wet. Spraying orange peely clear over orange peely base sometimes doesn't work out too good.

Thanks, yeah my dad suggested I do the pin stripes... Just hopefully I can find some paint to do it with, since I dont have any.. The shops around here don't seem to have much of anything for painting other then dupont base/clear.. Not much for anything custom.. :S

I don't really get what your saying about the orange peel....

I got a lil bit on a couple pieces in the intercoat clear.. Should I be wet sanding this a bit...?? before my final clear???

And the little bits of dust are mainly in the intercoat clear to cause thats when the plywood fell... The plywood wasnt dirty neither was the floor.. the problem was it pulled down a piece of plastic I had hanging to stop any dust comming from another room, and I didnt realize......

So I'm not really sure what I should do with that.. It's not really that bad but should be fixed as much as I can if theres a way to do it without risking the hole job..

Pinstripes will look great. Keep in mind, you don't have to use pinstripe paint. I've actually mixed up some basecoat colors together and did the pinstripes using this.
In your case, all the strokes will be short, so this might work out for you. Get a half pint of green, blue and white toner and make your own color.

As far as the orange peel, if it's bad and you feel that you have enough interclear, then yes, go ahead and wetsand it smooth as you can without going through into the color.
Go ahead and sand out those pieces of dirt. You mentioned that it was in the interclear, NOT the basecoat, so what you will probably need to do is just sand that down a bit (1000 grit should be fine).
Then just shoot a couple more coats of the base color and re-interclear (just light coat of interclear is all you need).

Remember pics are with my phone, so they're not quality or anything.. Plus the pics look like blue. The colour is way different in person, its amazing in light. Has a sweet greenish pearl tint to it, plus the pearl. I messed up a bit in my mind anyway... Showed what I mean down the thread a little.

I added a point, something like I originally planned on doing to this pic on the computer. I for some reason taped it differently and I guess I didn't realize until I started spraying :(... I think it looks better pointed :( :( :( :( :( I'm STUPID!!! I might put a "SUZUKI" sticker made to fit there (in the gap), the same colour as the silver paint. The back curve (by the gas switch) should have been more gradual too. :( whatever, to late now.
This PIC is edited how I should have done it :( :(

I will most likely be putting the bike together tomorrow after I change my oil. So I will probably post some pics when I get it all together with some of the finishing touches.

I might add pin stripes after... Maybe use the real teal and mix a little bit of the silver in it for the pin stripe.

Other then the design mess up, as my first paint job, and a bad room with to much junk to do it in. I'm overall happy with it so far.

Ok, the bike is almost together. I have 2 pics of it.. Will take a couple more when I'm finished putting it together.. Still have to put front fender on, finish bolting fairings, put foot pegs on, finish some of the lighting, I'm done about half of the lighting I want to do, and the mesh I will add later.

Plus I have a couple other small things I want to add still.

ANDDD I WANT TO RIDE ****IT!!! the snow is back tonight is a storm night :( today was a huge tease I guess...
